ABA completed a Master Plan for the New Britain Museum, exploring the needs, limitations and potential of the historic building and site. Following the Master Plan, ABA completed an award-winning 53,300 sf renovation and expansion accommodating a new entry and lobby, galleries, café, and multi-purpose auditorium. The expansion is scaled for its residential setting and supports exhibitions, visitor services, education, lectures and community programs. ABA’s second 18,000 sf expansion, recently completed, accommodates additional exhibition galleries and education resources, supporting the Museum’s expanding collection and its commitment to community engagement. This project has received design awards from the American Institute of Architects’ New England Chapter and the Boston Society of Architects.
