CHESAPEAKE BAY MARITIME MUSEUM
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) was founded in 1965 and is dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and people of the Chesapeake Bay. The Museum’s 18 acre waterfront campus has 35 buildings clustered around a series of open spaces that together create a unique venue for exhibition, education, and events.
ABA completed a Master Plan for the campus in 2017, addressing site infrastructure improvements, renovations of existing facilities, design of new facilities to support expanding mission, expanding curatorial needs, and anticipated growth in visitation, programming, and facilities. In the Master Plan, ABA proposed the demolition of four buildings, relocation of two historic buildings, and the construction of six new buildings to accommodate a new Welcome Center, Education Center, and Exhibition and Library building. ABA is currently designing the Museum’s new Welcome Center.
