Franklin & Marshall College, Hensel Hall

In support of the college's commitment to its visual and performing arts program, ABA developed a master plan to evaluate campus arts facilities. The result was a campus-wide arts initiative, including the transformation of an existing auditorium into a new concert hall and center for art, film, dance, and lectures. ABA's design reconceived the architectural setting, systems, and acoustics, creating a rich, warm interior, new patron services, backstage facilities, and variable acoustics for a range of programs.

Greenwich Academy

ABA is transforming Greenwich Academy’s South Campus. Addressing the academy’s need for improved service and support areas, clarity in circulation, and bright, open spaces suitable for collaborative work, ABA’s design calls for construction of a new Lower School and an addition to the Middle School, with the buildings connected through a series of courtyards and open spaces. When completed, the integrated green spaces and buildings will serve as a welcoming gateway for the campus and offer students more flexibility when gathering, socializing, and learning.

The Lower School, the first building to be realized from the larger campus plan formulated by ABA, features distinctive cedar board-and-batten siding and local fieldstone, references to other historical buildings on campus. The entry level features a large gathering stair with views to the courtyard, specialized teaching areas, and a conference room. The upper levels include
classrooms, an auditorium, a double-height library, and flex spaces for collaboration and break out work.
