HISTORIC FORT ADAMS

Fort Adams is the largest and most complete 19th-century coastal fortification in the US and a National Historic Landmark. ABA completed a master plan for the historic site, including an assessment of its structure and landscape, analysis of potential visitor markets and interpretation strategies, and a phased strategy for stabilization, restoration, and adaptive reuse. Following the master plan, ABA completed Phase I, securing the perimeter of the 6.5-acre parade ground, providing unrestricted public access to the interior of the fort. Future initiatives include further restoration, stabilization, and adaptive reuse to accommodate a variety of programs and interpretive displays.
