BATES COLLEGE MASTER PLAN
Bates College has a rich residential and campus culture with nearly all students living on campus. ABA completed planning for a project that explored the revitalization of underutilized campus buildings, investment in the surrounding neighborhood, integration of campus programs with new student housing, campus landscape initiatives, and development of a multi-phase plan for implementation.
Through workshops, presentations, and open campus meetings with faculty, students, and the Bates community, ABA developed a program and conceptual design that includes the transformation of the historic Chase Hall into a new campus center and new student housing that integrates campus life functions. New site and landscape initiatives create dynamic campus greens and pathways, build connections, and center the college’s landscape heritage.
